Hi there! My name is Muhammad Aditya Hilmy, and I’m a software engineer from Indonesia. And I think open source is awesome.
To be honest, it’s a bit hard for me to describe myself. I’m afraid that I would understate or overstate myself, but I’ll try my best.
I’m currently an undergraduate student in Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Information Systems and Technology. I love coding since I was a kid, but recently I realized that what I really love is the thrill of being able to solve problems with code--to see my ideas come to life, even if it’s just a simple Hello World.
I’m a naturally curious person, so I like to tinker around trying new technologies of various categories. I’ve tried frontend dev, backend dev, mobile dev, infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, even smart card programming in Java Card. In addition, I also like participating in Capture the Flag competitions, designing good-looking UI for fun, and some other stuff.
Sometimes, I would Google articles from other domains of knowledge to expand my knowledge. Recently, I have taken interest in learning about the human immune system. I’m doing all of this because I’m trying to understand how the world works.
Below is my amateur drawing of the immune system fighting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. As you can see, I’m not really good at drawing.
I actually do lots of side projects, but most of them are either too insignificant, or wasn’t GitHub worthy. Here’s some of my work that I’d like to showcase.
This is a JupyterLab extension that integrates with Rucio, CERN’s data management platform. I worked on this as a part of GSoC 2020.
This is my first real contribution in the world of open source. I used Mattermost during GSoC and I thought it would be fun to send a couple of PRs.
Since the pandemic began, I have found a new interest in bioinformatics. Contributing a small patch to Nextstrain is really a way for me to explore that.
This is a website to help ITB Informatics Student Union members to conduct mockup interviews.
This is a Chrome Extension that augments Stories feature to ITB’s academic information system. It got featured on an ITB s**tposting account :)
This is a website of Arkavidia 6.0: an event held by Informatics Student Union that includes competitions and more.
Expected graduation: 2021 · GPA: 3.79
Algorithms and Data Structures · Object-oriented Programming · Interaction Design · Mobile App Development · Computer Networks · Information Security
I worked with mentors from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to develop JupyterLab extension that allows scientists to make data available for analysis easily.
Created an interactive quiz and push notification feature in a live stream video platform to increase interactivity and user engagement.
Developed Chatbiz.id’s early microservices and deployed them in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
When I have ideas (..and I’m in the mood) I would write something on Medium or other platforms. Below are some of the things that I’ve written.
This is a recount of my experience in doing Google Summer of Code 2020 with the amazing folks from CERN.
I wrote this piece when I had binge blues after finishing whole 5 seasons of Gossip Girl in a month. I thought this would be a fun piece to write.
This article describes my understanding of how the electronic payment systems work--where the money is stored, how entities communicate, etc.
This article describes in general how smart cards work. I find it cool to see a computer embedded in such tiny form.
This article describes my understanding on how application containerization works and why it matters.
I did this piece for my Informatics Student Union orientation program assignment. It describes an idea that my dad and I had about single identity number and why it matters.
